Philip Glass and CPO

January 8, 2009

As you may or not know, Philip Glass, who happens to be one of my favorite contemporary composers, will be in Calgary this month as resident artist for the High Performance Rodeo (an event which featured an arrangement of Mike Oldfield’s “Tubular Bells” for four pianos last year by our very own Marcel Bergmann.) Needless to say, I am very excited to be able to attend most of the events surrounding this occasion, but to top it off I will now be playing with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra for their performances of Glass’ “Low” Symphony the week prior to his arrival, on January 16 and 17! (See here for more information!)

I can’t wait, and I hope that I get to meet him at some point while he is here! I still have to work on getting into Cantos for his private tour… !!!

Playing with the CPO!

October 10, 2008

Some exciting news!

I have been hired to play clarinet with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra for the upcoming concerts on the weekend of October 17 and 18. I am very excited about this great opportunity, and it would be cool if some people showed up to yell “Bravo Steve!” and “Go John!” for me, as I’ll be playing this time instead of cheering for Steve Amsel and John Lowry, haha!

Anyways, you can find more information regarding the program Here.
